My Army

Here is the army I've been itching to build, sadly I have 4 armies in the pipeline being worked on so they won't show up till summer. I'm sure all my local buddies can't wait. ;)

Total Roster Cost: 2000

Two very expensive characters, eh?

Wave 1:

Kairos, Skarbrand, 2 Nurglings, 2 Plaguebearers.

Wave 2:

3 Soulgrinders, 3 Fiends.

Fateweaver and Skarbrand sit together and guard each other.

Nurglings (A) and one unit of Plaguebearers drop on his side of the board, the other unit of Plaguebearers (the small one) and Nurglings (B) drop around the 2 big meanies.

Soulgrinders and Fiends start in midfield and run after the enemy.

Plaguebearers, Nurglings, and Soulgrinders lock enemy units in close combat and the Fiends zoom in and out of combat.

Great fun! =D

You reffer to Kugath several times in this post, but I presume you actually mean skarbrand?

Oops! lol

Yes indeed. I'll fix that asap, thanks. :)

I rather like the idea. The real thing that attracted me to Daemons...well, two things.

1) I like the way Soul Grinders look.

2) I like stomping on things with Monstrous Creatures and Daemons.

Then they turned into a conversion project for me to hone modeling skills, and because I was bloody tired of painting Space Marines.

This piece (...like, honestly, a lot of your other stuff) was pretty insightful. I've drug a lot of lessons I've picked up or confirmed here into the field, and it's been worth it.

Missing Changeling I think?

<3 Tz Chariot Heralds I think it's good too, promotes conversions.

Nope the Changeling is posted in the Horrors of Tzeentch entry.

You make some interesting points, not a lot of which I agree with as I think we approach 40k from different angles.

But one thing I am curious--you are a big fan of Bloodcrushers. I have tried them, but I find their massive bases to be a big hindrance. They have an enormous deep strike footprint and are difficult to move around other units. How do you work with that?

I play to win. Not sure what your angle is. Maybe instead of being dismissive you could be a little more constructive?

I like Bloodcrushers for their noob crushing abilities, and how dangerous they are to even veteran players armies as many of them still run crappy 4th edition armies.

Overall, I prefer Fiends over Bloodcrushers for their 'no escape' feel.

The way I personally deal with Bloodcrushers is using them in minimal configurations or in small FOC armies.

The Daemonzilla army I posted has minimal crusher units, 2 per.

The Khorne and Nurgle list has 3 per.

The Khorne list has 2 per.

Both are relatively small units and not as unwieldy, so don't have much problem moving around.

The Khorn and Tzeentch list has maximum size Bloodcrusher units, but everything else in the army will be sitting behind them as only the Bloodcrushers will be in midfield.

It's really all about your army configuration and how you use them.

If you drop a whole bunch of power weapon guys along with big units of Bloodcrushers...well, good luck with that.

I guess you could always cheat like Gareth of Wrecking Crew did, and use both smaller bases and pre-game onboard deployment to make your bloodcrushers less of a liability.

Cheating isn't encouraged around here though. ;)

IRT basing... do NOT use monstrous creature bases if you don't want to! I use custom bases slightly larger than a square base for my 3rd edition Juggers. (About the same size as the old Juggers, which are the models I use.) I even have second edition ones on square swarm bases.

I would agree with your comment, and probably would also not like using Juggers as much if all of mine were new models on the MC round bases.
